The Toronto Maple Leafs are excited about their first round pick Ben Danford from the 2024 NHL Draft, but his training camp has gotten off to a terrible start.
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Ben Danford left practice after taking an awkward hit from forward Marshall Finnie, as the team prepared for the upcoming Prospects Showcase against the Montreal Canadiens.
Though Danford was able to skate off on his own, he's being evaluated for a possible head injury. "Hopefully he'll be OK," said Maple Leafs prospects coach John Gruden.
Drafted 31st overall in 2024, Danford played with the OHL's Oshawa Generals last season, recording 33 points in 64 games. Known for his tough, defensive style, he's expected to return to the OHL for the 2024-25 season.
