Utah HC is making a bold move to attract new fans by minimizing concession prices at the Delta Center for the new NHL season.
Concessions at major sporting events are notoriously expensive with snacks & drinks costing fans a fortune. Utah HC the NHL's newest team aims to change that and make hockey more appealing in their market. Smith Entertainment Group, the team's owners, announced prices as low as $2 and $3 on select items which is lower than most convenience stores.
"The $3 fan-friendly concessions - popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, and Farr's ice cream bowls - can be purchased throughout the arena at various designated vendors including, but not limited to, Craft Shops, Tenders, Summit Snacks, and Farr's Ice Cream stations. The $2 Dasani water bottles will be available at all vendors."
The Delta Center has just over 11000 seats and is smaller than most NHL arenas. Ryan and Ashley Smith, owners of Utah HC, have big plans for the team's future including a larger venue in Salt Lake City. Ryan Smith emphasized the community aspect saying:
"I want the whole state holding up trophies," Ryan Smith said. "If that happens, which we're pretty confident it's going to, everyone's a part of it, that's how we feel. This is a labor of love."
