Artem Anisimov, a seasoned player with 700 NHL games under his belt, has emerged from retirement in Europe to embark on another North American hockey stint.
After his last NHL appearance in the 2020-21 season with the Ottawa Senators, he left to the KHL in 2021-22. Anisimov is now attempting another comeback by signing a Professional Tryout (PTO) with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL.
This move mirrors his strategy from the previous season when he signed a PTO with the Lehigh Valley, the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, eventually securing an AHL contract in December. Anisimov, who was part of the Flyers organization last year, has returned to the New York Rangers, the team that drafted him and where he spent the first four years of his NHL career. Although he'll be playing with the AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, it's evident that Anisimov is not ready to hang up his skates in North America..
The experienced forward had an impactful season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last year, tallying 36 points (19 goals, 17 assists) in 55 games, ranking 6th in team scoring.
