The Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers clashed on Saturday night in what became a classic Hockey Night in Canada affair. The Winnipeg Jets would end up coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in overtime.

McDavid gets hurt

Connor McDavid played 20:48 of the game but towards the end of the third he was hurt after a collision with Winnipeg's star defenseman Josh Morrissey. He came up in pain and skated off. It was an eerily similar play to the game prior when teammate Evander Kane collided with his leg.

McDavid went to the dressing room for a bit and then returned to the bench, but never returned to play. He did test out his leg/hip on stoppages but never played another shift. He had to watch from the bench as Mark Scheifele scored the overtime winner.

Coaches response

Head Coach, Jay Woodcroft, addressed the media at the conclusion of the game about McDavid's status.

"I didn't walk back there yet but it looked to be more muscular... just to me as I watched during the play. We'll see, I'll have an update tomorrow."

Thankfully, it sounds as though the injury is not overly serious. Hopefully, that is the case and McDavid plays again sooner than later.
