It was reported today that Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, is currently undergoing a 30 million dollar renovation that will modernize the 20-year-old building. NHL insider Chris Johnston noted that the renovations include adding ice-making capabilities to the building. This would make it possible for the NHL to host games in the building, if not relocate or add a new team to play there permanently.
Houston To Finally Get An NHL Team?
The NHL seems to be in a new era of expansion and one city that has seemingly been high on their list for some time now is Houston. Notably, Houston is the largest metro area in the U.S. that currently does not have an NHL team. A major part of the reason for that has been a lack of building, but with this new Toyota Center upgrade, that problem may be a thing of the past.
With that being the case, it seems that it would only be a matter of time before the NHL brings a team to Houston for good.
