While Phil Kessel is undoubtedly a future hall-of-famer, the veteran winger remains without a contract while the NHL season is well underway. Kessel has been in negotiations the entire offseason and has even stated he is willing to give up his Iron Man streak in order to sign a contract.
Now, it appears Kessel is close to getting a deal done, and is reportedly in the middle of negotiations with two serious contenders, according to NHL insider David Pagnotta.
Kessel's career is quickly coming to a close, as the veteran approaches his 1300th career NHL game. The rumours of where he could sign have been circulating all summer, with teams like Toronto and Pittsburgh being rumoured as to potentially considering bringing Kessel back for another run.
Whoever does successfully nab Kessel will be getting a veteran locker room guy, with a pattern of winning, for likely a bargain price.
