The PTO season has officially begun as teams finalize their rosters ahead of training camp. Austin Watson is the latest to sign a tryout contract with a new team.

Veteran forward Austin Watson has signed a professional tryout with the Detroit Red Wings ahead of September's training camp, as announced by his agency WD Sports & Entertainment on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old American played for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season, recording two goals and two assists in 33 games.
Throughout his career, Watson has scored 60 goals and 58 assists over 515 games with the Nashville Predators, Ottawa Senators, and Lightning. In the playoffs, he has 10 goals and nine assists in 45 games, all with Nashville.
Originally drafted 18th overall by the Predators in 2010, Watson spent a decade with the franchise before joining the Senators in 2020.
Watson is coming off a one-year contract worth $776,665.
The Red Wings begin training camp on Sept. 19, with their first preseason game set for Sept. 25 against the Chicago Blackhawks.
