First female coach officially set to be announced in the NHL
According to a new report, the Seattle Kraken are considering promoting Jessica Campbell to assistant coach, which would be a groundbreaking move in the NHL.
Seattle Kraken head coach Dan Bylsma told reporters this morning that Jessica Campbell is being considered for a position on the Kraken's coaching staff. Chris Johnston shared the news on Twitter:
"New #SeaKraken head coach Dan Bylsma tells reporters in Seattle that Jessica Campbell will be considered for a job on his coaching staff.
There's never been a full-time female assistant coach in the NHL before."
Bylsma was promoted to head coach of the Kraken this morning, and he expressed his intention to bring Campbell, currently an assistant coach for the Firebirds, with him to Seattle.
Last October, Campbell made history by being behind the bench during a Kraken preseason game, alongside Kori Cheverie of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as one of the first women to coach an NHL game.
Currently, both Campbell and Bylsma are working with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the AHL, preparing for the Western Conference Finals against the Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday.

If hired, Campbell would become the NHL's first full-time female assistant coach, breaking new ground in the sport.
