Joel Quenneville has been out of the NHL since 2021, but just a month after being reinstated, he could be back behind the bench sooner rather than later.

It's been a long journey for Quenneville, but he's now eligible to return to coaching in the NHL if the right opportunity arises. While all head coaching positions are currently filled, he seems to be waiting patiently for the right moment. The big question is, how soon could that opportunity come? It might be sooner than expected.
According to Matt Carlson of The Hockey News, there are four teams that could see a coaching change early in the 2024-25 season: the Detroit Red Wings, Utah HC, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Calgary Flames. If any of these teams get off to a rough start, Quenneville could be in line to step in.
All of these teams have coaches on the hot seat, but they haven't made any changes yet. With Quenneville eager to return to coaching, it wouldn't be surprising to see him land a job if one of these teams struggles early in the season.
