Donald Brashear was a well known enforcer during his long NHL career, but his post-hockey life seems to be taking an unexpected turn.

The NHL has grown significantly and while players today earn substantial salaries that wasn't always the case. In the past many players didn't make as much and have struggled financially after retiring.
Unfortunately, this might be true for Brashear. The 52-year-old has taken on a surprising new job as a car salesman at a local Nissan dealership, which suggests he may be facing financial difficulties.

Brashear played 1025 NHL games over 17 years for several top teams, scoring 85 goals and earning 205 points. However he was best known for being one of the league's top enforcers with a surprising 2634 PIMs throughout his career.
Sadly not all players are able to secure a stable future after retiring from the NHL. This is a reminder that financial planning is important no matter who you are. We hope that things improve for him & that others learn from this experience.
