Last week, Sean Higgins killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, and now it's clear he could be facing many years in prison.
The Gaudreau brothers, part of a beloved hockey family, were tragically killed while biking home from their sister Katie's wedding rehearsal in New Jersey. hey were struck and killed by a driver, Sean Higgins, leaving their family and community in deep grief as they try to make sense of the tragedy.
As their loved ones mourn, Higgins is behind bars awaiting his court hearing on September 13th. He faces two counts of vehicular homicide, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years, meaning he could spend up to 20 years in prison.

Higgins was driving under the influence and speeding on the shoulder of the road when he hit the brothers. The loss of Johnny and Matthew, cherished sons, brothers, husbands, and fathers, is unimaginable, and many feel that even 20 years in jail wouldn't be enough to compensate for the lives lost.
Higgins could face additional charges as the legal process continues, and his bail is expected to be set between $50,000 and $150,000. The idea of his potential release is difficult for the Gaudreau family and many others to accept, given the devastation caused by his actions.
