After rejoining the Edmonton Oilers last season, Sam Gagner is now eyeing another NHL opportunity, this time with an Eastern Conference Stanley Cup contender.

Gagner, a veteran known for his leadership and energy, is getting another shot in the league. The 35-year-old has reportedly been invited to the Carolina Hurricanes' training camp on a professional tryout (PTO).
Gagner, drafted 6th overall by the Oilers in 2007, has played for seven different teams over his 16-year career. In 1,043 games, he has scored 197 goals and collected 529 points. Though he didn't fully live up to the expectations of a first-round pick, his experience and leadership could be valuable to a contender like Carolina.
Last year, Gagner returned to the Oilers, playing in 28 games and recording 5 goals and 10 points. While these numbers don't make him a top-line player, he could be a strong fit on the Hurricanes' fourth line if he impresses at training camp. We'll have to wait and see if he earns a spot on the team.
