The NHL franchise that recently relocated from Arizona to Utah has announced the six finalists for their new name and logo.
The Utah NHL franchise has come together quickly. Over the last two months, the team announced their move and started a team name voting poll. Today, that poll was narrowed down to six team names: Utah Blizzard, Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC), Utah Mammoth, Utah Outlaws, Utah Venom, and Utah Yeti.
Utah is down to 6 finalists for its name:
• Utah Blizzard
• Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC)
• Utah Mammoth
• Utah Outlaws
• Utah Venom
• Utah Yeti
• Utah Blizzard
• Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC)
• Utah Mammoth
• Utah Outlaws
• Utah Venom
• Utah Yeti
David Pagnotta confirmed that the team will use the state name "Utah" instead of the city name "Salt Lake." The names Blizzard, Mammoth, and Yeti were popular on social media from the start.
Utah Yeti goes hard I can't front lol
Nothing Venomous about Utah. This isn't Europe so Hockey Club doesn't make sense. Yeti, Blizzard or Mammoth in that order.
Fan reactions on social media indicate that "Yeti" is currently a favorite for the team's new name. However, with another round of voting to come, this could change. It will be interesting to see if the team announces the new name for this season or waits until the 2025-26 season.
