Major Roster Moves In Seattle Linked To Potential Trade

On Friday, the Seattle Kraken made some notable changes to their roster recalling Shane Wright from the Coachella Valley and reassigning Tye Kartye back to the AHL. They also placed Jaden Schwartz on long-term injured reserve, as he is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to an upper-body injury.
The #SeaKraken have recalled forward Shane Wright (Coachella Valley) and reassigned forward Tye Kartye (Coachella Valley).

Additionally, the team has placed forward Jaden Schwartz on long-term injured reserve (retroactive to 11/28).

Just before the roster transactions, Baker hinted on social media that the Kraken were planning moves for salary cap management purposes.
«I'm told the Kraken are about to make some roster moves that won't make a whole lot of immediate sense. But they are supposedly just for «salary cap management» purposes and will eventually make sense by later this weekend. So, don't panic when they happen. «

Shortly after, the team announced the acquisition of veteran winger Tomas Tatar from Colorado in exchange for a fifth round draft pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Montreal Canadiens And Seattle Kraken Working On A Major Trade?

The Kraken's goaltending situation is under scrutiny after Philipp Grubauer's injury with reports indicating the team will be exploring the trade market for a starting goalie. Insiders have connected them to the Montreal Canadiens, who currently have three goalies on their roster in Samuel Montembeault, Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau.
The most logical candidate for a trade could be Jake Allen although his performance this season and contract make it difficult. The Kraken who are facing challenging times in the crease might see this as a necessary move.
Another viable option is Cayden Primeau who has caught the attention of scouts from other teams during late November and early December.
The big question is whether this trade will happen before the NHL's holiday roster freeze, which is from December 20th to December 27th. During this period, no trades or waivers can take place.
Fans are eagerly awaiting to see if the trigger will be pulled and how this potential goalie trade will unfold in the coming weeks.
