BREAKING: Boston Completes A Trade With Minnesota

The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) has been a huge success so far in their inaugural season. Today, its first-ever trade has been announced between PWHL Boston and PWHL Minnesota.

PWHL Boston Completes A Trade With PWHL Minnesota

In the trade, Boston acquires defender Abby Cook and forward Susanna Tapani from Minnesota, while Minnesota receives defender Sophie Jaques.
TRADE: PWHL Boston has acquired forward Susanna Tapani and defender Abby Cook from PWHL Minnesota in exchange for defender Sophie Jaques.
Jaques, a 23-year-old from Toronto, ON, was Boston's second-round pick (10th overall) in the inaugural PWHL Draft. She signed a three-year contract and played seven games with Boston after graduating from Ohio State University, where she won the 2023 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.
Cook, 25, from Kelowna, BC, joined Minnesota on a one-year deal as a free agent. She scored one goal in nine games this season. Cook played four seasons with the Boston University Terriers and was inducted into the Women's Beanpot Hall of Fame in 2023.
Tapani, 30, from Turku, Finland, was drafted by Minnesota in the fifth round of the PWHL Draft. She signed a two-year agreement and had five points in nine games for Minnesota. Tapani represented Finland in three Olympics, winning bronze medals in 2018 and 2022, and has a silver and four bronze medals across eight IIHF Women's World Championship appearances.
