The New Jersey Devils were knocked out of playoff contention after a tough 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. It means the 2024 second-round pick they sent to the San Jose Sharks in the Timo Meier trade won't be upgrading to a first-round pick.
Along with Meier, the Devils got Timur Ibragimov, Scott Harrington, Santeri Hatakka, Zachary Emond, and a 2024 fifth-round pick.
Ibragimov's been grinding it out in the AHL with the Utica Comets.
Harrington took a trip out West after being waived and snagged by the Anaheim Ducks. Now, he's playing over in Switzerland with the ZSC Lions.
Hatakka got a taste of NHL action with the Devils, but with the injured players returning, he's back with the Comets for now.
As for Emond, he's tending the net for the Trois-Rivieres Lions in the ECHL.

Now, on the Sharks' side, they got a myriad of picks and players in return for Meier.
First up, they got a 2023 first-round draft pick which they used to take star prospect Quentin Musty, along with Shakir Mukhamadullin, Nikita Okhotiuk, Andreas Johnson, and Fabian Zetterlund.
They also received a 2024 second-round pick, which was on the verge of becoming a first-round pick if the Devils made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. And just to top it all off, they nabbed a 2024 seventh-round pick too.
Meier has been doing well himself too. He's registered 25 goals and 48 points in 66 games this season. Last Summer after his initial contract expired, the 27 year-old signed an 8-year, $70.4 million deal with an AAV of $8.8 million per season with Jersey.
