With exactly one week until the National Hockey League Trade Deadline, all eyes are on the Boston Bruins. General Manager Don Sweeney has expressed openness to bolstering the roster with a return to the physical style reminiscent of the Big Bad Bruins era.
Bruins GM Addresses The Media On Team Needs
Sweeney acknowledged the team's occasional lack of physicality and suggested they may need to look outside the organization to address this. Despite efforts to utilize depth within the team, external additions might be necessary.
"There's the physical part of the game that we're lacking at times," Sweeney said. "Maybe we'd like to try and address that. We've tried to use our depth throughout the organization. A lot of guys have done a tremendous job in that regard, but we may have to look to the outside to find some.»
Prior to the season, the Bruins brought back former Stanley Cup champion Milan Lucic to add grit to the lineup. However, Lucic has been sidelined since earlier in the season following an incident involving his wife.
Rumors have linked the Bruins to defensemen Noah Hanifin from the Flames and Matt Dumba from the Coyotes. As the deadline approaches on March 8, uncertainty looms over the Bruins' future and potential moves to strengthen the team.
Stay tuned as we inch closer to the trade deadline on March 8th.
