Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney spoke with the media on Monday and provided a massive update on injured captain Brad Marchand.
Marchand's status for Game 5 against the Florida Panthers remains uncertain, but there's some positive news. According to Bruins GM Don Sweeney, Marchand will travel with the team to Florida and skated before departure. However, he's still considered day-to-day.
"Brad skated today. He'll travel with the team," Sweeney said at a press conference Monday before the team departed for Florida. "He's still day to day."
When asked about Marchand's condition, Sweeney confirmed that he's feeling better. Marchand sustained an upper body injury from a controversial hit by Panthers center Sam Bennett in Game 3, but Bennett faced no disciplinary action.
Marchand played until the second period in Game 3 but missed the third period and Game 4. His ability to skate and travel is a good sign, but his availability for Game 5 will depend on how he feels during the morning skate.
For the Bruins, Game 5 is crucial as they're facing elimination down 3-1 in the series after a 3-2 loss in Game 4.
