The Edmonton Oilers have one of the NHL's top broadcasters for the regular season, and now they want to see him take over for the playoffs too.
Being a Canadian team, the Edmonton Oilers have an incredible fanbase that care about every single part of the organization, and that includes the broadcast. They've been trying for years with no success, but again in 2023-24, the fans are petitioning Sportsnet to place Jack Michaels, an excellent broadcaster on their playoff broadcast.
god @Sportsnet just give us jack michaels on tv for the playoffs. this shit gives me chills
They've reached 6,000 signatures before on their petition, and while it hasn't been successful, they're clearly trying again.
Jack Michaels has proven his ability to capture the spirit of the game with his passionate and insightful commentary during regular season games. His knowledge about hockey is extensive and his enthusiasm infectious. We believe having Jack Michaels as the play-by-play announcer during the Stanley Cup playoffs would not only honour this legacy but also enhance our experience as fans.
One factor that may work in their favor is Harnarayan Singh, the broadcaster often assigned to Oilers playoff games may be placed on the Canucks broadcast with the team finally making the post-season, and while he's a solid name in the booth, he simply doesn't bring the energy or the love for Edmonton that Michaels does.
Now, we will just wait and see if Oilers fans and their persistence works in 2024.
