Evander Kane, a player for the Edmonton Oilers, is known for his controversial behavior both on and off the ice. He recently joined the Oilers after a contract termination with the San Jose Sharks due to various controversies involving himself and his family.
Despite signing a one-year deal followed by a long-term extension with the Oilers, there are indications that his tenure with the team might end prematurely, given his history.
Mark Spector, an insider and reporter for the Oilers, voiced concerns about Kane's disruptive behavior, which he later deleted. Spector emphasized that Kane's penchant for drama could be detrimental to the team, especially as they approach the playoffs.
As has been the case all of Kane's career, too much drama, boys. Too much drama around Evander Kane. Useless drama. I'll do what every player on every other team does. Yeah, maintenance day, I'm gonna try hard tomorrow. This is needless drama that you don't need starting playoffs, that you don't want in your dressing room. The guys we talk to about Evander Kane running his course - He doesn't run his course as a player, he runs his course as a bringer of drama.

Currently, Kane is dealing with a year-long sports hernia, which has caused tensions within the locker room. While he hopes to play, he has had to take time off the ice to allow for healing.
Kane says he's dealing with a sports hernia and has been all season. He's hopeful to play but has needed to take some time off the ice late in the season to let it heal. Full participant today in practice.
Many believe that for the Oilers to succeed, they need to distance themselves from Kane's presence, as his drama could negatively impact star player Connor McDavid and the team as a whole.
