The Arizona Coyotes future in Arizona has come to an end, and so has the Philadelphia Flyers' playoff aspirations after brutal loss to the rebuilding Montreal Canadiens marking their eight straight loss, in embarrassing fashion losing 9-3.
It was clear that the Flyers lacked high end talent going into the season despite them producing up until the trade deadline. It's in the final games where you need the star players to come to fruition, and it didn't click for Philly. It also didn't help not having a legitimate NHL goaltender, after they overplayed unexperienced goaltender Samuel Ersson, practically dragging him to the ground.
While many are calling for John Tortorella to hang up the boots in Philly, Darren Dreger has confirmed that Torts will not be leaving the Flyers bench anytime soon.
We can all appreciate the speculation. And when it comes to John Tortorella and the stories that follow, there's always speculation. As for his future as head coach, Flyers management source says «Torts is not leaving the bench». He still has the fireno question about that.
Tortorella is expected to stay with the Flyers and hopes to help them to the playoffs next year or potentially even this year shall a miracle happen. Torts has done wonders and who knows where this rebuild will take the broad street bullies.
