Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov had to exit the game against the Edmonton Oilers due to a scary lower-body injury while trying to make a save. The incident occurred while the Maple Leafs were leading 5-2.
Martin Jones stepped in as the replacement with the score at 5-3 and about 3:39 remaining. This would have added to the Maple Leafs list of injured players, including Mitch Marner, Ilya Lyubushkin and Calle Jarnkrok. As the playoffs near, the team needs to stay healthy, especially between the pipes.
We'll keep you updated as more details emerge.
