Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy has been officially suspended by the NHL for his vicious crosscheck on Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid.

Last night, a contentious incident occurred when Carson Soucy cross-checked Connor McDavid in the face well after the game ended.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced a hearing for Soucy, while Nikita Zadorov received a $5,000 fine.
Vancouver's Nikita Zadorov has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid.
Vancouver's Carson Soucy will have a hearing for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid. Date and time TBD.
Now, Soucy has officially been suspended for his hit on McDavid.

He will be eligible to return in Game 5 on Thursday night.
The absence of Soucy presents a notable advantage for the Oilers, given the defensive pairings shuffle, as he's a key shutdown defenseman for the Canucks. They'll have to depend on other players in his absence.
