In today's outdoor Stadium Series matchup between the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders, tensions reached a boiling point, resulting in a major injury.
Rangers Lose Key Defenseman To Injury
New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren left today's game with what sounded like painful injuries.
Early in the third period, the Islanders scored a goal to extend their lead. Just before the puck entered the net, Lindgren went down in the corner. He remained there for the remainder of the play and eventually left the ice with a towel to his face.
It appeared that Lindgren was struck in the face by Romanov's stick during their scuffle in the corner. After receiving preliminary care for his injuries, Lindgren was transported by an ambulance from the game.

As the game progressed, tensions escalated, with Romanov becoming a target for the Rangers.
Despite trailing 5-3 late in the third period, the New York Rangers staged a remarkable comeback, ultimately winning 6-5 in overtime.
