Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets official site reports that Johnson will have surgery for a torn labrum, forcing him to sit out the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

This season, Johnson scored six goals and 16 points in 42 NHL games. He also contributed 15 points in 10 games with AHL Cleveland.
