Veteran forward Pierre-Édouard Bellemare, 39, has signed a new NHL contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
Elliotte Friedman broke the news on X, revealing that Bellemare has signed a professional tryout contract with the Colorado Avalanche, a team he previously played for between 2019 and 2021.
During his time with the Avalanche, Bellemare recorded 33 points in 122 games. Over his career, he has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Seattle Kraken.
The Avalanche are looking to bounce back after being eliminated in the second round of last season's playoffs. After defeating the Winnipeg Jets in just five games, Colorado lost to the Dallas Stars in six.
Bellemare will now try to prove himself to head coach Jared Bednar and the coaching staff to earn a spot on the roster for the regular season. Competing against younger players, the veteran will aim to use his experience, leadership, and skill to convince general manager Chris MacFarland to offer him a standard player contract.
