Earlier this season, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins made a trade that can now be officially completed as the trade conditions have been resolved.

At this year's NHL trade deadline, the Columbus Blue Jackets acquired Alex Nylander and a conditional 6th round pick in exchange for Emil Bemstrom from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
We have acquired F Alex Nylander and a conditional 2026 6th round draft pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for F Emil Bemstrom
The condition on the draft pick was based on Bemstrom scoring 6 goals with his new team. If he achieved this, the Blue Jackets would receive a third-round pick instead of a sixth.
Draft Pick Condition Update:

If #LetsGoPens forward Emil Bemström plays tonight and scores 3 goals, the 2026 6th round pick sent to #CBJ in the Alex Nylander trade will upgrade to a 2026 3rd round pick.

If he does not score 3 goals, #CBJ will receive the 2026 6th round pick.
Unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, it appears Bemstrom will not play tonight, ending his season and resulting in the Blue Jackets receiving a 6th round pick.
#Pens HCMS:
- Nedeljkovic starts
- Letang is available despite not skating this morning
- Bemstrom is out tonight
Despite missing out on the higher draft pick, the Blue Jackets are likely pleased with the trade, as Alex Nylander has emerged as one of their top players throughout the season.
With the trade now finalized, both teams and their fans can fully assess its impact.
