Connor Bedard Faces The Media For The First Time Since The Corey Perry Saga
It's really hard not to feel bad for rookie sensation Connor Bedard right now. At just 18, he finds himself in the middle of one of the most significant hockey controversies in years, and none of it is his fault.
He recently spoke to the media for the first time since the rumors emerged, and to everyone's surprise, he didn't address the situation at all.
While Bedard represents the future of the Blackhawks, Patrick Kane was the face of an extraordinary era in Chicago, winning three Stanley Cups. Kane's chapter with the Blackhawks closed earlier this year, and he has now signed with the Detroit Red Wings.
In a recent media scrum, Bedard shared his thoughts on Kane's signing:
"It's weird just from being a fan growing up and seeing the success they had and winning those Cups and everything. It's weird for every hockey fan not seeing them in Chicago ... it's probably weird for him, too."
Kudos to Connor Bedard for the maturity he's displayed in handling the situation. He didn't deserve to be part of any of this, yet he is carrying on with strength.
There's no doubt that Bedard has a very bright future in this league.
