Renowned sports analyst, Elliotte Friedman, recently shed light on an irregular trade involving the Ottawa Senators, causing ripples in the hockey community.
The Missteps in Dadonov's Trade
The Ottawa Senators' deal that sent Evgenii Dadonov to the Vegas Golden Knights has now come under scrutiny due to procedural discrepancies.
"When [Vegas] acquired him from the Ottawa Senators, they were told that Dadonov had not submitted his trade request on time," shared Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada.
"However, he had indeed submitted it. The implications of this oversight mean that the NHL is gearing up to penalize the Senators for this lapse."
A significant detail emerged: Dadonov's subsequent trade from Vegas to Anaheim was in direct violation of his no-trade clause.
This occurred because Ottawa failed to communicate this clause to the Golden Knights.
"The NHL will soon announce a penalty for the Senators regarding this situation. A detailed account explaining Vegas's innocence in the matter will also be provided," reiterated Friedman.
The looming penalty has the Senators and their fans anxiously awaiting the NHL's decision.
