The New Jersey Devils have relieved head coach Lindy Ruff of his duties amid a disappointing season, the team announced on Monday. Travis Green has been appointed as the interim head coach.

Devils Fire Lindy Ruff, Appoint Travis Green As Interim Head Coach

It's official, the Devils were forced to make a move behind the bench according to multiple sources.
BREAKING: Travis Green is the #NJDevils interim coach. Lindy Ruff is out.
After making the playoffs last season and even advancing to the second round with a victory over the rival New York Rangers, the Devils have failed to meet expectations this year. They currently hold a record of 30-27-4, trailing eight points behind a playoff spot.
Ruff had faced criticism previously, with fans chanting "Fire Lindy!" at the start of last season. Although the pressure eased after the Devils made the playoffs for the first time in four years, the team's struggles this season have reignited scrutiny on the veteran coach.
When addressing the team's underperformance, Ruff took full responsibility.
"I take full responsibility... Players want to win. I'm responsible for the wins and losses, who gets on the ice and who doesn't get on the ice."

Ruff took on the head coaching role in the 2020 off-season and had signed a multi-year contract extension in October 2023.
Do you think this is the right move?
