The Calgary Flames have been the spotlight of trade speculation this season and we have just received confirmation that a big name is officially on the move.
Noah Hanifin's Days In Calgary Are Done
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, it seems inevitable that defenseman Noah Hanifin will be leaving the Calgary Flames soon. During Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night, Friedman shared his belief that any chance of Hanifin staying with the team has vanished, with the 27-year-old defenseman headed for the trading block.
"The team isn't comment and the agent isn't commenting but it's pretty clear from everything we've learned today that Noah Hanifin is going to the market," revealed Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada.
While neither the team nor Hanifin's agent has officially commented on the situation, Friedman indicated that his sources strongly suggest Hanifin will be hitting the market. Despite interest from Canadian teams, it appears likely that Hanifin may end up returning to the United States.
"I think there are Canadian teams interested in him but I think long term the U.S. teams are more confident that they are gonna be the ones that are able to sign him."
Friedman emphasized that, although there is Canadian interest, U.S. teams seem more confident in their ability to sign Hanifin in the long term. He later confirmed that Hanifin's time with the Flames is indeed coming to a close.
"It's very clear to me without any confirmation from team or agent that Noah Hanifin is going to market and the action has picked up around him," said Friedman in conclusion.
Where do you think Noah Hanifin ends up?
