NHL teams have been making cuts ahead of the 2023-24 season and there are now 26 players on waivers up for grabs for any NHL team.

26 Players Hit The Waiver Wire

Teams have been making cuts during training camp and with that comes waivers. It has been revealed that 26 players from seven different teams have hit the waiver wire.
Placed on NHL waivers today: Lassi Thomson (OTT), Josh Currie (OTT), Dillon Heatherington (OTT), Garrett Pilon (OTT), Nicolas Beaudin (MTL), Lucas Condotta (MTL), Brady Keeper (MTL), Mitchell Stephens (MTL), Drake Caggiula (EDM), Greg McKegg (EDM), Justin Richards (BUF), Devin Cooley (BUF), Dustin Tokarski (BUF), Anthony Angello (NSH), Kevin Gravel (NSH), Troy Grosenick (NSH), Jordan Gross (NSH), Jake Leschyshyn (NYR), Byron Froese (VGK), Mason Geertsen (VGK), Dysin Mayo (VGK), Gage Quinney (VGK), Sheldon Rempal (VGK) and Jonas Rondbjerg (VGK).

There are some notable names here including 2019 19th overall pick Lassi Thomson and some NHL players like Greg McKegg and Dysin Mayo.

Who Gets Claimed?

It is unknown who will be claimed but there is a solid chance that a team will take a shot on Thomson given his age and pedigree as a prospect.
There is also a solid chance that Dustin Tokarski, a 34-year-old goaltender, gets claimed by a team in need of some help between the pipes.
However, things don't always go as predicted. Many thought Ty Smith, a member of the 2020-21 all-rookie team, would get claimed but he went unclaimed a few days ago.
